The next Turn Up And Play is on Tuesday 3rd September on Lansdowne with Meriel Walker in charge. We have times booked from 9.03am until 10.00am, so if you would like to play early, please meet in the Locker Room at 8.45am, otherwise be there by 9.30am for a later time.  Remember - it's fun and doesn't count for handicap - no going up point one!

Ladies Annual Meeting and Election of Committee Members 2013

The Annual Meeting and Prize Giving of the Blairgowrie Ladies’ Section will take place in the lounge of Blairgowrie Golf Club at 6:00 pm on Friday October 11th 2013. At that meeting, the election of Captain, Vice Captain and committee members will take place. In accordance with the Blairgowrie Ladies’ Management Agreement November 2010:

2.2 Nominations of candidates for the offices of Lady Captain, Lady Vice-Captain and members of the Ladies Section Committee must be intimated in writing to the Club’s Managing Secretary not later than the 15th September in each year. Any candidate for such office or membership must be proposed and seconded by Members who are entitled to vote at an Annual or Special Meeting. A Notice listing any candidate proposed by the Members will be posted on the Notice Boards.

Nomination forms are available next to this notice in the Ladies' Locker Room.  Nominations will be published by the 22nd September 2013.

A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM THE LADY CAPTAIN

The Help For Heroes Charity has now confirmed that Members of The Blairgowrie Golf Club - Ladies Section -  donated the magnificent sum of £710 to my chosen Charity  on my Lady Captain's Day and the Christmas Lunch. 

I can only say an enormous Thank You to all who contributed in such a generous manner to make life easier for the Men and Women who return from conflicts around the world and to let you know just how grateful they are for your support.

Janette Hamilton  lost her engagement  ring last week, while playing on the Wee Course. Janette thinks it happened on either the 1st hole or the 9th.  If you are playing the Wee Course in the  next few days,  do please keep an eye out for the ring. Thanks.

WELL DONE LIZ!

Liz Fertacz came third in the Barnardo's Grand Final which was played at Arbroath Golf Club on Friday 23rd August, with 38 ladies taking part.  With all the entry fees and donations this competition has raised over £2000 for Barnardo's.  In first place was Sheila Brunton from Carnoustie Ladies with 39 points BIH, second place was Jackie Brown  from Monifieth  and  third  was Liz with 36 points. 
Well done Liz!

Delighted to report an away  WIN for Blairgowrie 2.5 to 1.5  against Downfield on Monday 19th August.   The  team members were :  Susan Arbuckle, Linda Rice, Barbara Lyburn, Cathy Irving, Fiona Johnston, Jan Kennedy, Margaret McGlashan and Mari Brown.

PAST CAPTAINS DAY 2013

Sixteen past captains gathered for the Past Captains' Trophy and lunch today. The weather was fine with ten ladies playing on Rosemount. The winner with 34 points was Mary Hope. Four ladies played a competition on the Wee Course and the winner was Flora Scott. Many thanks to our Lady Captain Vike Brown who organised the day. Afterwards the ladies enjoyed lunch and caught up with some good chat.

Congratulations to Emily Aird  who signed off  her summer golf at Blairgowrie by winning the Medal with a great 71  - 5 shots below the CSS.  Emily  leaves  today (Saturday 17th August) for  Newman  College in Kansas, USA, to begin her 4-year degree course.  Emily has promised to keep in touch and we  look forward to hearing how  she is progressing.

The Senior Ladies Invitation Day was blessed with fine weather today as Lady Captain, Vike Brown,  welcomed 40 ladies as our guests on Rosemount.  The course was in great condition with super fast greens.....

RESULTS : PITLOCHRY MATCH 12/08/2013

We played our last home  match against Pitlochry today and  were hoping to end  with a win.  Sadly we went down  1 - 3,  although  2 matches went to the last putt on the 18th green. Lady Captain Vike Brown was there to thank the players :  Margaret Hunter, Laura Mackay, Fiona Barron, Margaret Paterson, Moira Stewart, Ann Henry, Kathy Cameron and Christina Cleeton.

ABERFELDY MIXED OPEN

Lee and Sandy Bushby managed to win the Scratch Prize at the Aberfeldy Mixed Open today. Lee also won the nearest the pin prize. Well done.

DON'T LET YOUR HANDICAP LAPSE!

Ladies - it's that time of year again! In order for your CONGU handicap to remain active you must have returned at least three qualifying scores each year. Those not meeting the minimum number of scores will be identified with an "i" (inactive) which will appear on their CONGU certificate and handicap lists. Qualifying scores of less than three will not be carried forward to the next year. The "i" will be removed from the player's handicap as soon as three qualifying scores have been returned.
If you are unable to play in sufficient Medals and Stablefords you can use the Supplementary Scores System in order to achieve this .
Supplementary Scores System
In order to enter a supplementary card you need to play 18 holes with a member who can mark your card....your marker must have a current valid handicap.  Hand in your completed and signed card, clearly marked "For Handicap"  to Reception. With supplementary cards, your handicap may go up or down. If in doubt, play off the lower handicap ALWAYS.

If you need someone to mark a card please phone the Vice-Captain, Margaret Hunter,  and a marker will be arranged for you.

LADIES VERSUS GLENISLA

Unfortunately the away Match at Glenisla due to be played on Monday 5th August will not take place. Glenisla were unable to field a full team, so we agreed  on a friendly Draw.

The SGU has asked us to thank all the ladies who volunteered to help with ball spotting and car parking duties at the Scottish Amateur Championship last week. It was a great week culminating in a keenly-contested Final over two rounds on Saturday 3rd August.
Some of us  followed the finalists for the two rounds. The morning was benign, but the afternoon brought gale-force winds and wind-swept hair-styles.
