FRIENDLY MATCH WITH PITLOCHRY & PANMURE BARRY

Monday 20th August 2018

This was our last friendly match and was with Pitlochry and Panmure Barry.  It was a lovely day for golf when the teams of three, one from each club,  set off to play a Stableford competition.  The best Stableford score from the three players was recorded on the outward 9 holes and then the best two Stableford scores on the inward 9 holes.

The winning team was Janette Hamilton (Blairgowrie), Audrey Smith (Pitlochry) and Anne Keddie (Panmure Barry) with a total of 58 points.

Everyone agreed that the day was a winner all round.

Many thanks to Brenda Kerr, the Organiser for the day.

HANDICAP LEAGUE MATCH AGAINST ALYTH

Our last match of the Handicap league in the round robin section was held at Blairgowrie on 7thAugust against Alyth.  The weather was very pleasant throughout the evening with most of the games still finishing with the sun about to set over the course.
All the games were a really  friendly affair, especially as most of the players already knew one another through playing in other events throughout Perthshire.  The Blairgowrie ladies all had to give shots, so all the stops had to be pulled out to rise to the challenge on the night.  This resulted in a number of the games being very close and finishing either at the 17thor 18thholes.   The overall result on the night was Blairgowrie 4 – Alyth 1.
Following the match both teams enjoyed a light refreshment in the clubhouse where both nominated captains for the night gave their vote of thanks.   I would like to thank my team of Jacqui Landsburgh, Jo Stewart, Janice Lang and Sheila Bruce for all their support on the night.
I am still awaiting to hear from this year’s co-ordinator if Blairgowrie will be in the play-off, so please watch this space as I may need another team of players to represent our club.

Vice Captain.

FRIENDLY MATCH AGAINST ST RULE

Monday 13th August

Blairgowrie Ladies were expecting  to play a composite Match with ladies from St Rule and Turnberry  on Rosemount today, however  due to an unfortunate  last-minute cancellation by Turnberry, we ended up playing Matchplay Greensomes against St Rule.

The weather forecast had promised dry weather for the afternoon, but rain persisted throughout the day.  Spirits refused to be dampened, however, and the Matches were all keenly contested, with Blairgowrie just edging  ahead by  2 - 1.

We enjoyed a very convivial supper to round off a fun day.

Thanks to our  Team : Margaret Hunter (Captain), Liz Fertacz, Mary Miller, Jenny Livingstone, Jo Stewart & Sheila Ridgway.

Well done Blairgowrie Ladies !  How smart you all look in your purple sweaters.  Many thanks to Margaret Hunter, the Organiser for this friendly match.

FORFAR LADIES OPEN

35 ladies enjoyed a day out at the Ladies Open at Forfar today (1/8/18)
the weather favoured the earlier tee times with the last four groups getting a good sprinkling on their final holes.  this failed to dampen their spirits however and a few ladies landed "in the money" with 2's.  They were Katie Chapman, Brenda Clough, Janice Lang and Anne Walker.
Janice also had a nearest the pin prize - so well done to Janice.

In the stroke play event only Carolyn Haddow made it to the prize list with a very commendable net 72.

For the rest of us there were a few raffle prizes and of course.............there's always next year!!!!

Many thanks to Mary Miller for organising this outing to Forfar.  It was a most enjoyable day with some managing to fair better  than others by avoiding the bunkers!  Well done Carolyn - how did you manage it?
Also thanks Mary for the lovely tablet, very nice gesture.
