LADY CAPTAIN'S NEWSLETTER

What a change from last year at this time – we can see green fairways! This year we have been very fortunate and have had a good start to the year with moderate turn outs for the Winter League. Let us hope this is a good omen for the forthcoming season which will be with us sooner than we think.

Thanks to the weather and the clear roads the Tuesday Bridge Group has also had a good season with record turnouts. As always, our thanks to Joy Niven and Noreen Fordyce for their guidance and patience; thanks also to Margaret Hunter and Mary Hope who help out at holiday time.

We round off the winter season with the usual Mad March Medley on 16/3/12 and Texas Scramble on 23/3/12.
The season proper begins on 30/3/12 with the traditional Captain v Vice-Captain’s Match. This will be played on Rosemount with a shotgun start at 10am after the group photograph at 9:30am.

Before these fixtures, we have the opportunity to have coaching from Charles Dernie. These sessions begin from  the 20th February.

The Ladies Get Together is on Thursday 15th March.  This is a good opportunity for new members to meet up with us; so please come along and make yourselves known. The evening begins at 6:30pm with wine and a finger buffet followed by words of wisdom from Charles. The topics will include the new technology of clubs and balls and recent changes to the rules. He will be happy to take questions.

The sheets for the various knock-out competitions are now up on the notice board. The entries close on Sunday 1st April.

The Senior Men v the Ladies  match on 10/4/12 has proved so popular that we have been asked to provide 20 ladies!

We were fortunate to have Sandy Bushby set up the Ladies’ Blog www.blairgowrieladies.blogspot.com a few years ago and this year Margaret Hunter has agreed to be our Blogger in Chief. However I am conscious that not everyone is on line. So I propose to print off Blogs and put them on the notice board.
Communication for ALL is important.

Margaret Kerr continues to work hard as our Competition Secretary and Katie Chapman has taken over as Match Secretary. Katie will be putting up the fixture list On March 1st and looking for volunteers for the matches.

It is nice to note that The Scottish Ladies’ Junior Open Stroke Play Championship will be held over Lansdowne 25th – 27th July.
The club will be looking for volunteers for various jobs – starting, scoring, ball spotting etc. Volunteer notices will go up in due course.

Your Fixture List will have all the important dates that you need to know. So it just remains for me to wish you all the best for the coming season, good health, good weather, straight drives and putts that drop, surely not a lot to ask!
