TEAM ARIZONA v BLAIRGOWRIE JUNIORS

Saturday was a special day for some of our Junior Members, including Katy Alexander, when they took part in a match, on Rosemount, against a touring team from Arizona, USA. It was a beautiful day and Rosemount was a good contrast to St. Andrew’s New Course, where the visitors had played on the previous day.  The teams took everything in their stride when they were announced on the first tee and members watching witnessed excellent drives down the fairway, disappearing into the distance.  Katy won her own match 3&2 and the Blairgowrie Team won overall  - 7 ½ to 2 ½

Well done to everyone playing, a victory in their first international match.

FROM THE MATCH SECRETARY

Friendly Match Against Crail on Monday 29th May

Although the day began cooler than expected, the sun decided to pop out for the majority of the time the matches were being played.  Prior to the first tee time at 1.00pm, Steven Morgan, Managing Secretary, came out to greet all the playing ladies and welcome our guests Crail to the club, inviting them to enjoy all our facilities on the day.

With his welcoming words received warmly, the team of Fiona Johnston (captain), Linda Rice, Liz Fertacz, Margaret McGlashan, Heather Dawson, Christine Ogilive, Kathy Cameron and Pauline Hill were enthusiastic to maintain our winning record, established this season. Reports from the team were that most games were very close, bar one, with good banter being shared between the players.

Following the match, both teams enjoyed a wonderful meal in the dinningroom, with both captains giving their vote of thanks. Crail players, commented positively about the changes on the 6/7th holes, saying they had been quite tricky.

Many thanks to all the players who participated and for a great win of 3.5 to 0.5 to Blairgowrie.

Our next match is away to Strathmore on Monday 5th June, with Janice Lang, captain.  Good luck ladies.
