The new Fixtures booklet for 2021 is now available from the starter’s hut or the Pro Shop.   Please also ask at the Pro Shop for the 2021 bagtag discs if you do not already have one.  We have made one or two changes to the Fixtures which are noted below.   It may well be that a few more alterations will be made before the end of the season but we will let you know about these in good time.

 The first of our official competitions this year was played on Friday 30th April for the first qualifying championship round and the first round of the Margaret Salver.    Congratulations to Laura Mackay for her score of a net 69 and to Gill Tissell for the best net of 78 in her Division.   We also had a few players in Division 3 but only Jacqui Doig returned a score.  A total of 47 ladies returned scores.   

The Wee Course Ladies had their first medal with 16 ladies playing, the winner being Ann Malloch with 21 points.  

With regard to the Championships, the last of the qualifying rounds is to be played on 21^st May which gives everyone plenty of time until 25^th of June to have all the preliminary ties completed (they should be played on Rosemount unless competitors agree otherwise) with the finals held on Rosemount this year on Sunday 27^th June.

The knockout competitions rounds are now in full swing and the results are online if you wish to keep up to date with these.

You will all now be aware that the Ladies Committee agreed that the doubles knockout competition for the Gellatly Rosebowls should be postponed until restrictions are lifted regarding playing foursomes and    will intimate dates when the first rounds can be played.  The Coronations Foursomes scheduled for 28^th May have also been postponed until later in the season.   We will play instead for the Karrinyup Spoon on that day.   Later in the season, we hope to be able to fit in the Ladies Invitation Day which was postponed from 4^th May.

The first friendly match is away to Carnoustie Caledonia on 10^th May.   We have a full team organised and let us hope the weather is much drier and warmer that day.

The squad has been chosen for the Annodata competition (which previously was the Mail on Sunday) with the first round being played at home against Panmure on 16^th May.

On Saturday, 22^nd May, instead of the Pat Robins Trophy, we have substituted the Spring Meeting. The Pat Robins Trophy will now be played on 18^th June with the alternate day ladies playing for this on 13^th June.

We have a friendly match at home against Crail on 24^th May and of course the Senior Gents v Ladies match for the Columbine Cup is scheduled to take place on 25th May (I will let everyone know as soon as I am given  the list of senior gents) .    There are entry sheets for the friendly matches in the locker room upstairs and I would ask that all ladies who wish to play in any of the matches enter their names on these lists.

Please also note to enter your names for Wednesday 26^th May when the Ladies and Wee Course Ladies play a 9-hole shotgun scramble at 10 a.m. on the Wee Course with lunch to follow.   It would be nice to have a good turnout for this fun event.

Now that we are back into the swing of things and getting used to our new handicap system, I will keep you up to date on a fairly regular basis with news, results etc.  and hopefully with some great photographs.

Ladies, 

The Club has asked me to put a notice on the blog regarding the toilet beside the 9th green on Rosemount.

I am informed the toilet was vandalised at the end of last week and is unsuitable for use.   The Club is in the progress of dealing with this but it will be out of use for some  time.

Ladies Captain’s Newsletter – May 2021

Hopefully, you are now all enjoying your golf, albeit in very cool conditions given the time of year. 

Sadly, we have said our goodbyes to Dawn Tinker and Iain McKenzie and wished them well in their new ventures.  I am sure you all know that Stuart Wilson, our Managing Secretary is at present in the US as Captain of the Walker Cup.

Now that we are actually operating the WHS, our handicaps should be slowly returning to a more realistic playing level. 

The first round of our Championships on 30th April was well attended with 47 ladies entering.    The Wee Course ladies’ first medal that day had 16 ladies entering – Ann Malloch being the winner with 21 points.

The Columbine Cup (Senior Gents v Ladies) is to be played on Tuesday, 25^th May and the team has been informed.  There will be a 2 course meal after play when it is hoped everyone can be accommodated in the dining room.    The dress code has been dispensed with on this occasion.

I have chosen the squad for the Annodata (the old Mail on Sunday) and the first match against Panmure at home is scheduled for 16^th May.

Further changes have been made to the online fixtures as follows: 

The Gellatly Rosebowls competition has been postponed until later in the season if Covid 19 restrictions have been lifted regarding playing with partners.

Saturday, 22^nd May is now the Spring Meeting.

Wednesday 26^th May is the Wee Course Ladies v Ladies Shotgun Scramble & Lunch (provided the dining room can accommodate everyone) –this is eligible to all ladies to enter.

On 28^th May, Coronation Foursomes have been postponed until later in the season (again if Covid 19 restrictions permit) and the Karrinyup Spoon competition inserted instead.

13^th June is the alternate day for the Pat Robins Trophy; The 18^th of June is the actual competition day for this.

Due to Covid 19, the dates for the friendly matches have caused quite a bit of confusion – Jacqui Landsburgh, our Match Secretary is in the process of confirming the various matches and I will let everyone have firm details as soon as possible.

New rules are in place in the Clubhouse in regarding the current Covid19 restrictions and I would ask that everyone adhere to the requirement to wear masks whilst in the Clubhouse until seated and to ensure their track and trace details are registered each time they enter.   Masks require to be worn at all times when in the bag store.

News Update

 

I am conscious that it is some time since I wrote anything for the Ladies blog because there was really nothing to say, but I am pleased to say that the Ladies Committee met today in person for the first time this year and resulting from this, I now have various bits of information to report.

Firstly, we decided that the Gellatly Rosebowls competition will only be played once the restrictions are lifted regarding touching other people’s equipment.   Dates will then be re-arranged for the various rounds of play.  

The friendly match against Auchterarder has been rescheduled to 5^th July.   Because the clubhouse has been closed for so long, our Committee have decided to ask all the ladies who entered  the friendly and Handicap League matches online, to please put in their names on the entry lists which will be posted this weekend on the upstairs locker room board.   This will give everyone who missed the cut off entry date to now enter these which will help our Match Secretary, Jacqui to organise.  

I have selected a squad for the Annodata competition (this was originally called the Mail on Sunday) -Blairgowrie are drawn at home against Panmure and the first match requires to be played by 31^st May.    I have asked the Club to let me have dates when the match can be arranged and  I will be back in touch to  keep everyone informed well in advance.

The draw for the Columbine Cup (Senior Gents v Ladies) for 25^th May is posted on the upstairs locker room notice board. Once I have been given the Gents team and actual times, I will notify everyone.            

It may be that there will be sufficient space to accommodate us all for our meal in the dining room after play – please note the requirements for change of dress  this year have been waived.

Regarding handicaps for single matchplay, we require is use the slope tables to convert our handicap index to a course handicap then apply the full difference between the two. 

For general play scores being entered on your phone app for  the WHS, a score should be entered for each hole – please note, no returns are unacceptable as this has a detrimental effect on your handicap.    Please also note that if you are entering a general play score, you can only do so at the Club after play.

Update on Competitions, etc.

 

Our knock-out competitions and friendly matches are now to be entered online with the entries closing on 31^st March.     The Fixture List will be published shortly but now that we are to be longer in lockdown than anticipated, it has been agreed that the March and April fixtures will not go ahead.  You will by now have received the Club’s email regarding bookings from members outwith the Perth & Kinross Council area – we hope Covid restrictions on travel will be lifted soon.    In the meantime, we should continue to book online (heeding the travel restrictions imposed) -  we are permitted only to play in 2s and this will unfortunately continue until Covid 19 restrictions are relaxed.  

The following friendly matches will be either postponed or cancelled because of the existing rules in place regarding travel.

It has been decided to hold the match between the Ladies Captain and Vice Captain on Tuesday 22^nd June – this will replace the Sundowner.  We have arranged for this to be an afternoon draw from 4.30 p.m. onwards over both courses which means that our ladies who work will be included and able to take part with an evening time.   We hope to have coffee/tea, sandwiches and strawberry tarts after play. 

To date we have 43 new members, four of which are ladies.    I still await their names but I believe Joan is currently sending the welcome packs out to them and I look forward to seeing them on the courses and having a chat with them.

This year, once more we find ourselves living in difficult times but if everyone adheres to the rules, we will be able to look forward to enjoying competitive golf once more.

I will keep you updated with news regarding our future competitions and mixed events.

February News

 

It is with great sadness that I have to report two of our former members have recently died, namely Etta Anderson and Lottie Hally -  we send our sincere condolences to their families.

The Ladies Information Sheet and Terms of Competitions have now been updated and are on the website.  

All Minutes are now online.   The the knock out competitions booking can be access by logging in online as normal.

The draft Fixtures have been reviewed and Joan will shortly be letting us have the completed version for circulation.    The Wee Course Coffee morning has been cancelled as has the Ladies Get Together – once lockdown restrictions are relaxed, the Committee will discuss when alternative dates can be organised for such get togethers.

Jacqui, our Match Secretary,  is currently confirming the dates for our friendly matches and hopefully these will go ahead this year.  Further details about these later.

I have currently 20 ladies on the Columbine Cup entry list with 3 reserves.   The draw will be done very soon once we can get together again and the team will  be  emailed to everyone thereafter.   Once again, we are uncertain if this match will proceed but I will keep you informed.

At last, something to report

 

Our Fixtures should be available shortly.  Please remember that we have different handicap divisions i.e. Division 1 (Gold) (1 - 20.4)   Division 2 (Silver) (20.5 - 36.4) and Division 3 (Bronze) (36.5 - 54)

The Columbine Cup (Senior Gents v Ladies) is to be played on Thursday, 8^th April over both courses.    Last year, the cost for the ladies for this match was £20 payable on the day.   Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we were unable to play this match in 2020 – we certainly hope we will manage it this year.  At present, with the Clubhouse being closed, it is not possible to put an entry sheet on the notice board so therefore if you wish to enter, would you please note to email me at margaretkerr0748@gmail.com – we need 20 ladies with two or three names as reserves.

The following are all online under Opens in the club website –

 Ladies Tri-Am to be held on Monday 21^st June on Rosemount – the cost is £60 per team of 3.

5-Day Open – This year the ladies are included.    This individual Open is to played on Lansdowne and the entry fee for a Blairgowrie  member will be £55 with a non-member paying £115 -  commencing on Sunday, 1^st August.   The first day is for practice and  Monday, 2^nd August  will be the start of the competition days.

Ladies Texas Scramble to be played on Lansdowne on Tuesday 7^th September.   Teams of 4 at a cost of £60 per team.

With the amount of snow and ice still covering the courses, I cannot see us being able to play for another couple of weeks so we will all just have to grin and bear it.    It was a very long January!!
