PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

--------------------------------------------

** Original date was 24th March - now 14th April **

As you may be aware, the dining room is being refurbished.  The carpet will not be fitted until the first week in April and rather than cancel this event (I know lots of you were looking forward to it), Beginners Line Dancing will now take place on Monday, 14th April at 10.30am in the Dining Room.

Fiona Edwards will be there to teach you some moves and we hope to see as many of you there as possible.

LADIES GET TOGETHER - Friday, 14th March

I was delighted to see so many ladies at the Pre-Season Get Together.  Thirty seven ladies enjoyed an evening of fun which started with a welcome drink and lots of mingling with friends new and old.

Barbara Lonsdale put on a fabulous display of her own hand-woven golf snoods, which proved to be very popular.

Raffle prizes were up for grabs and also some summer golf gloves on sale to complete your golfing look on the course.

A lovely one course meal followed by tea/coffee and tablet was enjoyed by all.

The highlight of the evening was our special guest speaker, Heather Dewar - the multi award winning and previously the first ever female BBC sports journalist in Scotland.

Heather spoke at length giving us a rare insight into the life of a female sports reporter.  She shared stories of her own struggles which touched and inspired us all.  Her key message ..... RESILIENCE.  Never give up on your dream or anything you want in life.

The audience were captivated by her story and asked lots of great questions which she answered honestly.

I was able to go over some golfing items before we headed home.

My thanks go to........ all of you for coming along, the catering staff for providing us with a delicious meal and for looking after us so well on the night.  To Barbara Lonsdale who worked tirelessly to create the golf snoods for the event.  The office staff for helping to print and promote the event, to my Ladies Committee who helped make the evening so special and last but not least to Heather Dewar who gave up her time to share her story.

I am also delighted to let you know that we managed to raise £456 since our last event which will go to Alzheimer Scotland.  Thank you so much for your kind donations.

Here are some photos of the evening.........

TEXAS SCRAMBLE - Friday, 14th March

Another great turnout - this time for the 16 hole Texas Scramble.

Ten teams played on full greens on the Lansdowne course on another glorious spring day which was enjoyed by all.

Making up the winning team (on c/b) with a score of 57 were Fanny Christie, Alison Graham, Louise Luke and Moira Stewart who pipped  the runners up Eileen Brown, Fiona Edwards, Jennifer Livingston and Gill Tissell into second place!

A golf ball will be left in the Ladies locker room for each player in the winning team.  Congratulations !

WINTER SOCIAL EVENT - WEE COURSE LADIES COFFEE MORNING - 10th March

Twenty Seven ladies attended this morning and enjoyed coffee and shortbread with plenty of chatter and smiles.  One gent contributed £5 for his coffee and another couple of ladies also put £5 in.   Heather Welsh gave a short speech encouraging ladies to play in this coming season's competitions.

Most Pars competition:  Heather Dawson gave a small prize of one golf ball to Margaret Sturrock, runner up and Heather Walsh, winner, of the highest number of pars.

Thank you to everyone on the Ladies Committee who made today a success and to Heather Dawson who had the idea of the Most Pars competition for the Wee Course Ladies.

MAD MARCH MEDLEY - Friday, 7th March

Twenty Nine Ladies played on full greens on Lansdowne in a fun 16 hole competition in teams of two or three.  It was a beautiful Spring morning.  Given the cold, strong winds earlier in the week, today's conditions were lovely.

The winning team were Maureen Brass, Cara Davidson and Sandra Kinloch scoring 138.

Runners up were Angela Rooney, Margaret Johnstone and Freda Erskine scoring 141.

Golf balls will be left in the Ladies locker room for the winning team.

Congratulations to the winners and runner-ups.
