LADIES GET TOGETHER 23rd MARCH 2018

Thank you to all Ladies who attended the Get Together on Friday 23rd March.  It was a lovely evening, maybe helped by the sun which had come out that day!  

We had an excellent meal cooked by our new caterers Gary & Elaine and everyone said how much they had enjoyed their food.

Vice Captain, Pauline Hill gave us a very interesting background to our Reciprocal Courses; this was followed by our Pro, Charles and Assistant Pro, Neil informing us about the most suitable golf balls for ladies to use and then an insight into various putters and how they perform.

The finale of the evening was a fashion show from the Pro Shop of Ladies' Spring & Summer golf wear.  The clothes were modelled by Jacqui Hovde, Jane Dernie and Pauline Hill, assisted by Bronwen Godley.

On Friday morning although the weather looked as though it was going to rain, it actually turned out to be quite a nice day and the ladies managed to play their Texas Scramble on Lansdowne.

The Winners were  Sue Waddell, Kay Thomson and Jennifer Livingstone with 53 points and the 

Runners Up were Lesley Findlay, Aileen Keen ad Sheila Bruce with 53.3 points.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible next Friday, our Opening Day, when the LC team will play the VC team for the Friendship Bowl.  Please meet in the small bar lounge at 12 o'clock after collecting your card from the Pro shop.  The format is a Greensome Stableford with a shotgun start at 1pm.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Heather Anderson who has won the Club Championship at Southbroom Golf Club in South Africa.  This is Heather's 5th win at the Kwa Zulu Natal course and so the weather and challenging course obviously suits her game.  Well done Heather!

LADIES INFORMATION UPDATE

1) Fixture Lists are now available and so please collect them from the Pro Shop

2) The Wee Course Coffee Morning is on Monday 19th March at 10.30 in the small Bar Lounge.  Cost £1.75 for coffee and shortbread.  All Wee Course Ladies welcome.
Come along and receive information from Shirley about forthcoming events on the Wee Course this season, together with information about handicaps.

3)  Please book for The Get Together on Friday 23rd March with the Catering staff.  Cost £12.50.

4)  Opening Day on Friday 30th March is a 1pm shotgun start.  Please meet beforehand at 12pm in the small Bar Lounge and thereafter outside for a photograph.  There will be a 1 course meal after play in the dining room          when the 'Friendship Bowl' will be presented to the winning team.  A 'Sign Up Sheet' for the meal will be displayed in the Ladies Locker room.

                                       5)  Booking for Invitation Day on 1st May is now online. Cost £15 per couple.  When you select your tee off time that is the time you will play.  Closing date is Tuesday 17th April.  Catering, including specials for the day will be available.

WINTER SOCIALS

Today saw the last of the Winter Socials which have been very successful and well supported.  All the ladies who have attended on a regular basis have thoroughly enjoyed their Monday mornings followed by coffee in the lounge.  Hopefully these Winter Socials may continue next year.

This morning Liz Ridsdale treated us to a very interesting display of flower arranging.  LC, Janice had asked Liz to do an arrangement for her Golden Wedding and this was the beautiful presentation which she produced.  Thank you Liz.

The evening will consist of a Presentation of our Reciprocal Clubs by Vice Captain, Pauline Hill.  This will be followed by a talk from our Head Professional, Charles Dernie and Assistant Pro Neil, on which golf balls are more suitable for ladies to play, together with all we need to know about putters and grips.  To finish off the evening Charles will have a mini fashion show of his spring/summer ladies golf wear.

This is an evening not to be missed, catch up with all your friends and enjoy a lovely meal cooked by our new caterers, Gary & Elaine.

LADIES OPENING DAY - THE FRIENDSHIP BOWL

Online booking for LC v VC day on Friday 30th March is now open.

This is going to be a Shotgun start at 1pm and the format is a  Greensome Stableford.

After receiving your score card from the Pro Shop, please meet in the Small Bar Lounge to meet your playing partner and opponents and receive details about play.

CHARLES'S LESSONS

Due to the inclement weather Charles began his course of lessons in the dining room this week.  Areas covered were club position, addressing the ball and the importance of the follow through as well as putting techniques.

Next week, week beginning Monday 12th March, Week 2 of the Coaching, will be at the Carsie Range and so please bring a 7 iron or a rescue club or a 5 wood.

FRIDAY 9TH MARCH PLAY CANCELLED

The Winter League on Friday 9th March has been cancelled due to snow still covering the course.

The fashion show of Charles's Spring & Summer clothing which was due to take place after play on Friday has also been postponed until a future date.
