WINTER LEAGUE & STANLEY CLARK TROPHY - Friday 22nd December

The early morning rain quickly dissipated, letting us all enjoy a lovely day on a course in excellent condition for our last competition before the festivities begin.  Thank you to everyone that stayed behind for the results and photoshoot, and congratulations to the winners and runners-up as follows:

Division 1: Winner - Janice Lang (37 points); Runner-up - Cara Davidson (35 points on c/back).

Division 2: Winner - Elaine Robson (40 points); Runner-up - Morna Bell (38 points).

Wee Course: Winner - Heather Welsh (19 points) and Janet McKenzie the runner-up (15 points).

Thanks to Pauline Hill for capturing the winners with some golfing friends

PRESENTATION OF CHEQUE TO SCAA

I had the greatest pleasure earlier this week presenting a cheque to SCAA chair Mike Beale for £880 from  the proceeds from the Christmas Hamper Raffle and confectionery sales.  Mike illustrated the importance of our donation by outlining some of the situations the SCAA team have dealt with and how these funds have such an impact on their ability to respond and save lives - heartwarming and very humbling.  Thank you again for your generosity and support.

LADIES CHRISTMAS LUNCH – Friday 8th December

I was delighted to welcome fifty-seven ladies to our Christmas Lunch on Friday - we all enjoyed a delicious meal with much laughter and festive cheer.  I am very grateful to the hospitality team for attending to us so well: Tina, Colin, Clayton, Jayvin, & Innes in the kitchen; Greg & Dylan behind the bar; and our servers Carrie, Danni, Ryley & Lucy.  My thanks are also due to Sean & Nicky in the office for printing my promotional posters and menus.

During lunch we scratched our heads over a cryptic quiz prepared by Heather, revived our musical memories with questions prepared by Anne and answered Christmas Queries set by Pauline.  Shirley Irvine found herself in the lucky seat before we learnt some fun facts about the Committee combined with a Fact or Fiction elimination game.

Many thanks to Anne for making her delicious confectionery, and to Marion Kay for making up the bags so beautifully – I am delighted to say that from proceeds of the sale of confectionery, raffle tickets and additional cash donations, we have raised £880 for Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance.

I am extremely grateful for your support and generosity.

The draw for the hampers was made after lunch, with Ruth Watson winning the main prize, John McMahon and George Pople the smaller hampers, and Heather Welsh and Jean Laburn taking the bottles and champagne truffles home.  Huge thanks to everyone that contributed by donating wicker hampers and items to fill them with, to everyone that purchased tickets and to the bar team that sold so many for me.

Finally, a big thank you to my Vice Captain Maggie together with all the Committee members who worked hard to make the day a success and to everyone for coming along and joining in the fun.

We still have more golf to play before Christmas, but I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Festive Season and I look forward to seeing you on the course or in the clubhouse soon.

WINTER LEAGUE FRIENDLY CANCELLED (again!!)

The Winter League Friendly against Crail, originally planned for Sunday 29 October and cancelled following persistent heavy rainfall, was due to be played at home tomorrow.  However, given the ongoing prolonged cold spell with sleet and ice a factor coupled with the need to travel in the dark, we have agreed with our visitors to postpone this match.

The rescheduled date will be advised as soon as it can be arranged, and posted on the notice board for sign-up.

WINTER LEAGUE - Friday 1st December 2023

Sixteen ladies wrapped up well against the morning frost to compete in the Winter League competition on Rosemount, with five ladies also venturing out on the Wee Course.  With clear blue skies and not a breath of wind, whilst chilly, it was a delightful day for golf, and this was once again reflected in excellent scoring.

The results were as follows:

Division 1: Winner - Maggie Marshall (44 points); Runner-up - Eileen McMurray (41 points on c/b).

Division 2: Winner - Marion Kay (48 points); Runner-up - Elaine Robson (47 points).

Wee Course: Winner - Jeannie Webster (24 points on c/b) and Heather Welsh the runner-up (24 points).

Well done ladies.
