LADIES SUNDOWNER - TUESDAY 27 JUNE

We were hoping for this.......

But once again our Sundowner event was almost a wash-out after a day of constant rain, however eleven hardy ladies agreed to venture out in the belief that the drizzle would ease off, and were rewarded with clear skies for most of their game. Congratulations to the team with the best two out of three scores; Meriel Walker, Cassy Grant & Jo Menzies, with thanks to them, to Erica Espley, Fanny Christie & Morna Bell (runners up) and to Kathy Cameron, Anne Walker, Gill Tissell, Linda Rice and Elaine Robson for supporting this event.

Elaine managed to capture a couple of photos before the ladies ventured out! May be next year!

On this occasion our visitors played extremely well, gaining a win with a score of 4-1.

FRIENDLY COMPOSITE MATCH WITH DUNBRACKEN & ST RULE - MONDAY 19 JUNE

Looking at the weather forecast for today over the weekend, the three team captain's were not convinced that this match would actually take place. However, it was decided yesterday that we would take a risk and our team was happy, if the weather didn't play ball, to have a coffee and a chat instead in the Dormy House at Gleneagles.

Our relaxing chat over coffee and a bacon roll before our game didn't take place as planned, as there was an issue over the start time and instead of teeing off at our planned tee time of 11.10am on the Queens Course, we were rushed onto the first tee an hour early. We did still manage to grab a coffee and a bacon roll which for some of us was drunk and eaten going down the first!

Thankfully, the weather was much better than forecast. When we arrived it was cool, windy with a bit of drizzle, but we all managed to complete the full 18 holes before the rain started in earnest. At times there was a bit of warmth in the sun and sun glasses were required!

We played in six teams of three, comprising a member from each club, in a fun format, a 'waltz', one score counting on the first hole, two on the second hole, three on the third, then repeated. The winning team was Elaine Robson, Ros Rentoul and Anne Ferrier with a score of 78 points.

After our game we enjoyed a delicious one course meal in the Dormy House.

Many thanks to the Blairgowrie ladies - Sue Waddell (Captain), Elaine Robson, Mary Hope, Gill Tissell, Meriel Walker and Fiona Edwards for representing the club.

Here are a few photos from our fantastic day at Gleneagles......

The recent spell of warm and sunny weather continued when we welcomed the visiting ladies from Turnberry and St Rule on Thursday 15 June.  This fun fixture was played in six teams of three, comprising a member from each club, with the two best stableford scores at each hole counting for the team total.

FRIENDLY MATCH V LADYBANK - THURSDAY 8 JUNE

We had a very enjoyable day out at Ladybank today. The skies remained overcast with at times a slightly chilly wind; where was all this sunshine Windy Wilson had forecast, certainly not over Ladybank Golf course!

However, the course was in fantastic condition and all of us had plenty of opportunity to try out the newly installed replacement bunkers! All four matches were keenly contested, however the hosts proved to be tough opponents and won the match 3 1/2 to 1/2. After our game we enjoyed a delicious two course meal in the club house.

Many thanks to Sue Waddell (Captain), Elaine Robson, Fiona Johnston, Fiona Edwards, Eileen McMurray, Lorraine MacGregor, Gill Tissell and Meriel Walker for representing the club.

FRIENDLY MATCH v ALYTH - MONDAY 5 JUNE

We had a very enjoyable match against Alyth ladies on Monday afternoon on Rosemount. The course was in great condition. The recent good spell of weather has certainly helped the growth of the grass on the greens. All matches were keenly contested, however the visitors had the upper hand and won all 4 matches. Despite the 'whitewash' we were all still speaking after the game and enjoyed a delicious two course meal in the dining room together with some chat!

Many thanks to Sue Waddell (captain), Fiona Edwards, Linda Rice, Elaine Robson, Moira Lumby, Lorraine MacGregor, Eileen McMurray and Meriel Walker for representing the club.

All smiles at the start!

FRIENDLY MATCH v STRATHMORE - TUESDAY 30 MAY

It was a pleasure to welcome the ladies from Strathmore for this friendly match on Rosemount, which was enjoyed in glorious sunshine and fabulous playing conditions. The teams on paper were very evenly matched, and the results proved this to be the case, with two matches finishing on the 17th and two going to the final hole. On this occasion our guests secured a 3-1 win, and were very complimentary on the presentation of the course and the delicious meal enjoyed in the clubhouse afterwards.

Thanks are due to the greenkeepers, Tina and the catering staff, and to our Blairgowrie team of Linda Rice, Jen Geddes, Anne Walker, Elaine Robson (team captain), Anne Farquharson, Fiona Edwards, Maggie Marshall and Lorraine MacGregor for representing the club.

Both teams ready for action!

Many thanks to Elaine Robson for the match report and photo.
