FRIENDLY MATCHES

Pitlochry Match Away on 19th August

The Convenor, Muirel McPherson is looking for some more bronze players to sign up for this match.  If you are available on this date then please help out. It would be helpful if you could do this by Monday 5th August.

Crieff Match Away on 22nd August

I have been informed by Crieff that this match is now going to be a composite match with another club invited on the day.  In this respect only 6 players will be required.  There are a good number of names down, so priority will go to any player who has not already played in any other games.  The selected team will be up on the notice board on the 8th August.

SCOTTISH GIRLS AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

Good luck to two Blairgowrie Members,  Katy Alexander and Megan Ashley,  who are playing on Rosemount in the Scottish Girls' Amateur Championship this week.
All competitors will play two qualifying rounds of stroke-play on Friday before the players with the top 16 scratch scores progress to the match-play at the weekend. From the remainder of the field the players with the top 16 nett scores will qualify for the

handicap match-play. Please come along and support the girls!

Scotland Girls from L to R: Porscha Wilson, Rachel Foster, Claire Mclaughlin,
Ellen Caton, Carys Irvine, Katy Alexander, Megan Ashley,
Carmen Griffiths, Cameron Neilson and Grace Crawford
Last  week Katy and Megan played at Crail in their first Junior Invitational against other girls of similar ages from high schools in the USA....Tennessee, Florida, and others. Scotland was asked to put together 10 Girls to make 2 teams and compete with 1 single match and two 4BBB per team.

On Day 1 Scotland combined teams won 5.5 out of 6 catapulting both teams into semi finals the following day!  Again 2 out of 3 points for both teams saw a Scotland 1 v Scotland 2 final which was great.

Scotland 1 managed a 3 nil victory over the second team but all matches were close!

A great few days of making friends from across the water and working together as a squad.

Thanks go to Karyn Dallas (Scottish Girls Coach) for the report and photograph

We have received an invitation  from Perth & Kinross Board of Culture regarding the  Jessie Valentine Display  at the Perth Museum and Art Gallery to be opened  on Tuesday 23rd July. If you would like to go along to the opening ceremony, please advise the Lady Captain, Fiona Johnston, as soon as possible.

HANDICAP LEAGUE MATCH WITH MUCKHART

Blairgowrie & Muckhart Ladies after the Match

What a wonderful day for a game of golf.  The sun was shining, the ball was running and our guests loved the course and hospitality provided by the Blairgowrie ladies.  The Muckhart team arrived early to have lunch in the lounge and were greeted by Mary Miller, captain for the day.

Once refreshed, the teams all tee off with the lowest handicaps going first. Most of the games were very close, with all the Blairgowrie Ladies having to give shots. Following light refreshments on the terrace, the captains gave their votes of thanks and the players presented for the photo shoot.  Blairgowrie enjoyed the day further the result of a 4-1 win was announced.

Many thanks to Mary Miller (c), Sally Hebden, Katie Chapman, Julie Wink and Fiona Johnston for playing on the day.

FRIENDLY AT ST RULE

The two teams Blairgowrie and St Rule after our match

The match was played over the Eden course, which proved to be quite tricky for some players with its many belly bunkers and fast greens. There was certainly a strong wind and it seemed to be coming towards you, no matter which hole you approached. However, despite this, all the games were enjoyed by both teams, with some games being closer than others. Although the win went to St Rule in all 4 games, the meeting up with friends and making new ones on the day was what counted.

I can only say visiting the club house after the game was an experience in itself, with greats views over-looking the 18th hole of the Old Course. Following the photo session, we all enjoyed a Processo and a beautiful afternoon tea of salmon, cucumber and egg sandwiches, followed by scones and pancakes with clotted cream and jam. We were then served strawberry tarts, chocolate eclairs and meringues, all accompanied with coffee and tea. Definitely a calorie count required for the next few days. Thanks were giving by both Captains to the catering staff for their wonderful presentation.

I would like to thank the team of Jaquci Lansburgh, Mary Miller, Julie Wink, Avril Smith, Lis Fertacz and Moria Lumby for representing the club.
