WEE COURSE LADIES - PLAY ROSEMOUNT

Great NEWS for a good number of our Wee Course Lady members.  Following discussions with the Main Committee, it has been agreed that those ladies who have been full members of the club for 10 years or more and have "Retired," to play the Wee Course, will now have their Loyalty rewarded. This means that your membership will now include 2 rounds on Rosemount and 4 on Lansdowne and will take effect from 1st July 2019.

You will also be able to take a guest onto the courses should you choose to do so, when you book. Wee Course ladies who are eligible for the 6 rounds on Lansdowne will also be able to take on a guest during their rounds.

I hope you enjoy taking up these changes and I look forward to seeing you all on the courses.

LADY CAPTAIN'S DAY

It's that time of year again, when every Lady Captain, I'm sure, tries to think of something different for this Special Day.  I have been assisted by the fact that it's Blairgowrie Golf Club's 130th year, therefore, I hope the sun shines and as many ladies as possible will join the ladies committee and myself in celebrating this occasion.  Our Lansdowne members are eligible to play in this fun day and our Social members welcome to join us at the meal.  So ladies, please sign up at the bar and help contribute to the day's events.

FRIENDLY AWAY AT ALYTH

The forecast for Thursday 13th June was awful, but as the day dawned clear and dry, hopes were raised that the forecasters had got it wrong.  Unfortunately disappointment was in store as the rain began to fall, just as our team of Katie Chapman (c), Carolyn Haddow, Jen Geddes, Di Barbour, Margaret McGlashan, Meriel Walker, Miriam Rooney and Moira Stewart arrived at Alyth Golf Club.

We all played, however, and although the rain was persistent and sometimes heavy, there was no wind and it was mild. Alyth won the match by 3 games to 1 and everyone agredd it had been a very enjoyable day.

My thanks goes to Julie Wink for convening the match and Katie Chapman for compiling the above report.

FRIENDLY WITH LADYBANK

On Tuesday 11th June 2019 we welcomed a team from Ladybank Golf Club.  The weather was dry and sometimes a little blustery, but the wind did not hinder our enjoyment of the game.

A friendly draw was the result and was followed by an excellent meal with Lemon Posset a very popular choice of desert.  The Caterers were well praised by the Ladybank Captain for the match. This was her first visit to play the Rosemount course and was pleased to record a win with her partner.

My sincere thanks go to our Blairgowrie team of Mary Miller, Eileen McMurray, Margaret McGlashan, Miriam Rooney, Julie Wink, Caroline Dracup and Di Barbour.

My thanks to Muriel McPherson for convening the match and compiling the above report.

I do not think I would be wrong in saying, that playing the Ailsa Course at Turnberry would be one for our "Bucket List." The Blairgowrie Ladies Team of Fiona Johnston(c), Shiela Bruce, Jo Stewart, Miriam Rooney, Gill Tissell and Brenda Kerr joined the ladies from St Rules, Gleneagles, and Turnberry to play our friendly match on Thursday 6th June.

Considering the weather at the beginning of the week, Turnberry was bathed in sunshine for our whole round, although the wind did pick up slightly on the back nine. We played in teams of 4, one lady from each club, with 2 scores to count at each hole. On the day, the Blairgowrie lady winner was Brenda Kerr who received her prize along with her fellow players after the meal.  I should say, this was on count-back of the last 6 holes.  Well done Brenda.

The hospitality from the Turnberry team was extremely warm, the views from the course were stunning and we all received a variety of keepsakes in remembrance of our day.  The Clubhouse is amazing both inside and out and the meal after the match was lovely.

Brenda gave the vote of thanks on behalf of all the visiting ladies and extended our invitation for our return match next year.  I would like to thank the team for making the effort to travel to Turnberry, for making it a very enjoyable day out for our team and for making me proud to be your Captain playing in such a wonderful setting.

FRIENDLY AWAY AT STRATHMORE

Our team lead by Captain Brenda Kerr, Caroline Dracup, Margaret MacGlashan, Sue Waddell, Jennifer Sneddon, Gill Tissell, Jan Kennedy and Hilary Inglis.

In the words of Winnie the Poo, it was a "Blustery Day."  The team took on Strathmore ladies in really difficult conditions. All the matches were closely fought, resulting in a narrow win for the home team.  Catering as ever at Strathmore was of the highest standard.

After the meal, votes of thanks were given by the two captains and both teams are looking forward to a rematch at Blairgowrie. Thank you ladies for representing the club.
