I attended the Junior Prize-giving today and met Katy Alexander, winner of the I
sobel Murray Trophy for Junior Girls. Katy is Junior Girl Golfer of the year and also won the Alastair Gibb trophy. Unfortunately Katy does not have many girls to play with in the Junior Section, in fact, she is usually the only girl in the competitions. The Junior Convener, Stuart Graham, told me that girls had come along to the special open coaching sessions in summer, but gradually they fell away. It's too bad, Katy is a very talented and keen young golfer...if anyone knows of any more keen young girl golfers, we'd like to know.
