BRIDGE NEWS
Today the ladies gathered for the last session of Bridge before the Christmas holidays. Everyone was filled with the holiday spirit and prizes were being awarded for winning tricks with a two or bidding and making a grand slam. Lady Captain Elizabeth Davie, Joy Niven and Moira Stewart presided over the proceedings. As 2's were not taking many tricks and grand slams were not being bid then some players received a prize for wearing pink! Everyone is reminded that Tuesday Bridge resumes on Tuesday the 6th of January. Below you can see Moira wearing a magical Santa Hat that does amazing things!

LADIES CHRISTMAS LUNCH 2014
What a rousing welcome awaited everyone today when we arrived at the Club for the Ladies Christmas Lunch. A surprise piper was there to greet
us, and after pre-lunch drinks, we were piped into the dining room. Very grand!
Lady Captain, Elizabeth Davie, and her Committee went to great lengths to ensure we all had a wonderful afternoon..... from carol singing, to the lovely meal, to a surprise visit from Father Christmas who dished out lucky number and elimination presents from his huge sack. There were comments that Father Christmas looked like a double for past captain Alan Mackay - who knows!
The committee rounded off the afternoon with a hilarious rendition of "The 12 Days Of Turkey", and Past Captain Margaret Hunter gave a hearty vote of thanks to the committee for a terrific afternoon.

PLEASE DON'T LET YOUR HANDICAP LAPSE
Ladies - it's that time of year again. In order for your CONGU handicap to remain active you must have returned at least three qualifying scores each year. Those not meeting the minimum number of scores will be identified with an "i" (inactive) which will appear on their CONGU certificate and handicap lists. Qualifying scores of less than three will not be carried forward to the next year. The "i" will be removed from the player's handicap as soon as three qualifying scores have been returned.
If you are unable to play in sufficient Medals and Stablefords you can use the Supplementary Scores System in order to achieve this. This is explained below.
Supplementary Scores System
In order to enter a supplementary card you need to play 18 holes with a member who can mark your card....your marker must have a current valid handicap. Hand in your completed and signed card, clearly marked "For Handicap" to Reception. With supplementary cards, your handicap may go up or down. If in doubt, play off the lower handicap ALWAYS.
A full explanation about CONGU handicaps can be found in the CONGU Handbook which is in the Locker Room.
If you need someone to mark a card please phone the Lady Captain, Margaret Hunter, or any member of the Committee, and a marker will be arranged for you.

VARIOUS
Our Scratch Team rounded off the 2014 season with a 3-2 win against Strathmore on Monday 28th July, at Strathmore. The Team has won five matches out of six, and is still in with a chance of winning the Scratch League Trophy.....it depends on how other results go. Whatever happens, thanks must go to our two Scratch League Leaders, Heather Anderson and Gillian Wallace. And thanks to all ladies who played in the Scratch League this year.
LADIES TIMES AUGUST 8th
You may have noticed that the Ladies tee times for August 8th begin at 10.03am. This is due to Lansdowne being closed to Members for the PGA Professional Championship. The change of time was agreed with the Club last year, in order to allow as many members as possible the opportunity to have a game.

BLAIRGOWRIE V DUNBRACKEN MATCH RESULT
Today a team of six ladies travelled to Gleneagles for our annual match against Dunbracken Ladies. This was a very different away fixture, in that teams from Panmure and Elie also took part, making a total of four clubs. Six teams of four, one from each of the clubs, played the Queen's Course in a team Stableford format. Although the weather was slightly damp in parts, the course was in excellent condition and all the ladies thoroughly enjoyed the experience. After the match a light meal was served and the scores announced. Congratulations go to Barbara Lyburn who was in the winning team!
Many thanks go to the team, Margaret Hunter, Barbara Lyburn, Avril Smith, Katie Chapman, Meriel Walker and Nancy Keddie, for representing our club.
