..........................................................................................................................................................

The prizegiving for all trophies, medals, etc. will take place at two separate meetings in November, one for the winners of 2020 and then other a week later for the winners in 2021.  The dates will be intimated shortly.

Jacqui Landsburgh is to retire from Committee after completing two years  and  Jo Stewart is to continue for her fourth year - as we have nominations for three ladies and only two  vacancies,  a ballot will  require to be made at the Ladies Annual Meeting to determine who will be successful.

Medal 9 was won by Sue Waddell (Division 1) and Margaret Marshall  (Division 2).  The winner of the Hoad Super Putter  was Meriel Walker.

The Centenary Trophy was won by Noreen Fordyce with a better inward half from Gillian Wallace as Runner up (both with 73).

The Coronation Trophy was won by Gill Tissell with Sue Waddell as runner up.

The Jessie Valentine Trophy was won by Barbara Lyburn with Heather Dawson  as runner up.

Noreen Fordyce has the  following intimation regarding Ladies afternoon Bridge:-

Unfortunately, due to the current situation with COVID restrictions, the Tuesday afternoon Bridge sessions will not begin as usual in October.  The situation will be reviewed in January and, if things have improved, we may be able to resume then.

Congratulations go to Denise and Rob Ginley – they won the Ping Qualifier earlier at Blairgowrie and  managed to get into the top 40 qualifiers to play at Gullane earlier this month.

As usual, I have a photo to share with you - never mind Sunshine on Leith, we have Sunshine on the Loch!  What wonderful scenery we have.

The Stormont Vase Mixed competition was played on 5th September - the winners were Murray and Mary Miller with a net score of 67 and Jamie and Ruth Watson were second with a net 72 with a better last six holes from David and Margaret Kerr also with net 72.

The winners of the Wee Course Ladies Scramble held on 8th September were Elaine Robson, Susan MacVean and Elizabeth Smith with a net score of 32 with a better last six holes.   Two teams were runners up  because it was impossible to differentiate - these were Weather Welsh, Kay Thomson and Linda Clark  and Ann Henry, Doreen Johnston, and Anne Gellatly.    6 teams of 3 ladies played that day and 5 teams all recorded scores of  net 32.

The last friendly match of the season was played at Forfar in very pleasant conditions.  The result was a 3-1 win for Forfar but everyone enjoyed the game, the company and the meal afterwards.  Some photos of the post-match meal are attached plus a view of the burn and the rowan trees between 9th & 10th holes.

Results and Updates

The winner of the Millennium Trophy with the best 2 rounds out of 3  was Denise Ginley with a total of 76 points with Jacqui Doig as runner up with 75 points.

The friendly match against Crieff did not take place as they were unable to field a team and  Pitlochry were only able to field a team of 6 instead of the usual 8.

The Perth & Kinross Handicap League matches have now all been played - the  result of these  is that Blairgowrie won two, lost one and drew one.  Auchterarder and Dunkeld now play in the final.

Medal 7 was won by Mary Hope (Division 1) with a net 73 and Elaine Robson (Division 2) with a net 71.

As at 27th August, the Wee Course Eclectic competition shows Morna Bell in first position so far.

On 30th August the friendly Tri-Am Club Match with players from Blairgowrie, Panmure and Carnoustie was hosted by the Carnoustie Ladies and was played on the Burnside Course at Carnoustie.  Each team comprised one player from each Club with the format of 1 net score on holes 1-6, 2 net scores on holes 7-12 and 3 net scores on holes 13-18.   The winning team with a score of 134  consisted of  Margaret Hunter (Blairgowrie) May Ritchie (Carnoustie) and Marion Duthie (Panmure).

The Solheim Cup is now underway and one of the European Team may seem familiar to those of you who remember the Junior Ryder Cup at Blairgowrie in September 2014.  The player is Emily Pedersen from Denmark who was 18 when she played at Blairgowrie and turned professional the following year.  Since then, she has enjoyed five wins on the European Tour.   Here's hoping for  success over the weekend.

There is still time to put forward any nominations (which must be duly proposed and seconded) for three  Ladies' Committee vacancies or any other matter relating to the ladies' events and competitions.  These must be received by me by 20th of September for intimation before the Ladies Annual Meeting scheduled for 8th October.

A view taken of the Black Loch last week  during a very fine and still afternoon.
