Looking at the weather forecast for today over the weekend, the three team captain's were not convinced that this match would actually take place. However, it was decided yesterday that we would take a risk and our team was happy, if the weather didn't play ball, to have a coffee and a chat instead in the Dormy House at Gleneagles.
Our relaxing chat over coffee and a bacon roll before our game didn't take place as planned, as there was an issue over the start time and instead of teeing off at our planned tee time of 11.10am on the Queens Course, we were rushed onto the first tee an hour early. We did still manage to grab a coffee and a bacon roll which for some of us was drunk and eaten going down the first!
Thankfully, the weather was much better than forecast. When we arrived it was cool, windy with a bit of drizzle, but we all managed to complete the full 18 holes before the rain started in earnest. At times there was a bit of warmth in the sun and sun glasses were required!
We played in six teams of three, comprising a member from each club, in a fun format, a 'waltz', one score counting on the first hole, two on the second hole, three on the third, then repeated. The winning team was Elaine Robson, Ros Rentoul and Anne Ferrier with a score of 78 points.
After our game we enjoyed a delicious one course meal in the Dormy House.
Many thanks to the Blairgowrie ladies - Sue Waddell (Captain), Elaine Robson, Mary Hope, Gill Tissell, Meriel Walker and Fiona Edwards for representing the club.
