FLOWER ARRANGING WINTER SOCIAL - Monday 29th January

Our second Winter Social event took place this morning, when Liz Ridsdale demonstrated her flower arranging skills and talked us through the techniques and steps involved to create beautiful displays - she made it look so effortless.  Liz very kindly provided the flowers, and her beautiful arrangements were raffled, raising £60 for Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance.  The lucky winners were Heather Dawson and Fanny Christie.

WINTER LEAGUE & STANLEY CLARK TROPHY - 26th January

After the recent storms and heavy rainfall it was great to be able to enjoy our golf today in winter sunshine, with 20 ladies playing on Lansdowne and 6 on the Wee Course.  Congratulations to the winners and runners-up as follows:

Division 1: Winner - Maggie Marshall (39 points); Runner-up - Janice Lang (38 points)

Division 2: Winner - Elaine Robson (45 points); Runner-up - Eileen Brown (37 points on c/b)

Wee Course Winner: Elizabeth Tosh (19 points on c/b); Runner-up - Heather Welsh (19 points on c/b)

FULL BODY TONING CLASS - 15th January

Maggie Marshall kicked off our winter social programme with an excellent full body toning class which really did cover heads, shoulders, knees and toes!!  Maggie and Cara Davidson gave us an excellent coaching display and, after a gentle warm-up, we worked through the routine with music playing to give us a beat.  We stretched and crunched, and squatted and lunged, and it was great to see ladies of all fitness levels joining in so enthusiastically .... the sound of a 30 second buzzer became all that we wished for!!

After completing 10 separate exercises and a gentle cool-down Maggie displayed her skills with a hula-hoop - then we all gave that a go before having a fun competition to see who could "hoop" for the longest.  There were some excellent attempts, but the star of the show was Jeannie Webster, not only hooping past my 17 seconds, but doing it with grace and style.

Our winter league and Stanley Clark Trophy competitions have been well supported despite the sunny but chilly weather with the Wee Course Ladies also braving the elements.  Many thanks to Maggie for looking after things during my recent holiday absence and for taking the photographs.

Division 1: Winner – Anne Walker (41 points); Runner-up – Cara Davidson (40 points). 

Division 2: Winner – Eileen Brown (44 points on c/b); Runner-up – Katie Chapman (44 points).

Wee Course Winter League: Winner – Heather Welsh (22 points); Runner-up – Ann Henry (19 points).
