FRIENDLY MATCH v LADYBANK - 25th June

We were delighted to welcome the ladies from Ladybank to Blairgowrie for our friendly match.  Having had glorious weather the day before the forecast looked bleak with thunderstorms on the way.  However we managed to avoid the bad weather and only had brief spells of drizzle which was a relief to everyone!

All matches were very tight, with two games halved and two games won by Blairgowrie, resulting in a 3-1 win overall to the Blairgowrie team.  Well done!!  Post golf we were treated to a delicious two course meal which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

Thank you to Fiona Johnston, Elaine Robson, Mary Hope, Linda Rice, Carolyn Haddow, Anne Farquharson, Maggie Marshall (team captain) and Eileen McMurray who stepped in at short notice.

HANDICAP LEAGUE MATCH v KING JAMES VI - 24th June

We played our second handicap league match of the season against King James VI on Moncreiffe Island on a warm and sunny evening.  We received a very warm welcome from our hosts and the matches, whilst keenly contested, were enjoyed by all.  The course was in excellent condition; the fairways were lush, the greens were true and it was great to see how well the course is recovering from the damage caused by the floods in October 2023.

The individual matches were all very close, mostly going to the final two holes, however our hosts were able to take home advantage, winning 4-1.  The evening concluded with the customary vote of thanks and freshments provided by the King James ladies.

Many thanks to Morna Bell, Heather Dawson, Elaine Robson, Lesley McPherson and team captain Fiona Johnston for representing the club and providing the match report.

FRIENDLY MATCH v EDZELL - 17th June

We received a very friendly welcome from our hosts when we visited Edzell earlier this week.  The course was in excellent condition and the weather mostly kind as we made our way round enjoying great company and some very close matches.

The greens were as tricky as always and, despite our best endeavours, we were unable to match our opponents; the result was a 3-1 win to Edzell.

Following the games we all enjoyed an excellent two course meal afterwards.  Many thanks to team captain Fiona Johnston, and to Carolyn Haddow, Liz Fertacz, Heather Dawson, Elaine Robson, Sheila Bruce, Anne Walker and Marion Kay for representing the club.

FRIENDLY MATCH v ALYTH - 3rd June

NO rain, NO brollies, NO jumpers or waterproofs ... and YES we were in Scotland, playing at Alyth under beautiful blue skies on this well maintained course which was in superb condition.  Surely this was perfect for great golf and good scoring even with the strong wind?  Well it was, if you were a home player with local knowledge of the fast greens, but not so for the visitors!

As available players were restricted each club fielded a team of six, with all matches being won by the home team.  Our ladies all enjoyed both playing the course, some experiencing it for the first time, and sharing stories in the clubhouse afterwards with much hilarity and a delicious meal.

Sincere thanks to the team - Denise Ginley, Pauline Hill, Fiona Edwards, Louise Luke, Sue Waddell and Anne Farquharson (team captain) for representing the club, and to Anne and Sue for providing the match report and photo.

WEE COURSE TEXAS SCRAMBLE - 29th May

The sun was shining as we teed off on the Wee Course on Wednesday for the Texas Scramble, with teams of three comprising members of the Ladies Committee, Senior Ladies and Wee Course lady members.  Unfortuntely the heavens opened before we reached the finishing holes but, despite this, everyone enjoyed this fun competition.  Many thanks to the greenkeeping team who presented the course in stunning condition.

Congratulations to the winners - Morag Johnston, Anne Farquharson and Anne Gellatly with a score of 33; runners up, with a score of 34, were Christine Anderson, Kay Thomson and myself.

The ladies enjoyed an informal lunch in the dining afterwards; many thanks to Greg and his team, and to Lauren for organising the event.
