Lady Captain V Vice Captain

Conditions could not have been better for the official beginning of the season. There was not a cloud in the sky as the Lady Captain drove off. The course was in excellent condition and thanks must go to the green keeping staff for all their hard work. With such good conditions, a close match was anticipated and although some of the games were close, the overall result was in no doubt – 11 ½ to 3 ½ for the vice captain and thanks go to Margaret Kerr for leading on Vike’s behalf. The Vice Captain was presented with the trophy just before the refreshments were enjoyed. A beautiful bouquet of flowers from the Club Captain was presented to the Lady Captain. Our thanks to all who helped make the day the success it was.

DO YOU HAVE YOUR CDH NUMBER?

Your CDH number is your unique  ID number from the Central Database of Handicaps. You have to have one from this year for  all counting competitions,  including P&KLCGA meetings, Vets, Opens, etc.   You can obtain your number from the office.  Here's an example of what it looks like.

4000174394

Once you receive your own CDH ID Number you can register  it at: www.slga.co.uk/cdh/member .  You will then be able to login to the CDH  and find out what your exact handicap is and print off a handicap certificate if required.
The idea behind the CDH is that when you play in a counting competition away from home, you will no longer have to  report your Away Score, this will be done automatically and your Handicap updated.
The SLGA has produced a Guidance Pack about the CDH system.   Just log on  to the SLGA website and look for the link CDH in the left hand column.

MEMBERS GET-TOGETHER 15/03/2012

With the new season's golf just  round the corner Lady Captain Jean Laburn welcomed around 50 ladies to our  2012 Members Get-gether  "An evening with Charles".   We enjoyed a glass of wine with finger buffet, lots of chat,  then  settled  down to hear words of  golfing wisdom from our own Charles Dernie.

Charles  explained how  new technology  has changed golf in recent years and demonstrated  some of the latest clubs which  are designed to  assist the women's game. He also went through recent changes to the Rules of Golf and  tested us with a fun quiz  which made  us all realise we need to brush up on the rules, old and new.  A question and answer session  gave ladies the chance to ask  about  new ball technology,  golf rulings, rakes  in bunkers  and much more. Charles had  all the answers!

Jean presented Charles with a bottle of fine red wine as a token of appreciation from the ladies.  Now we look forward to great golf this season, starting with the traditional Captain v Vice-Captain on March  30th.  If you can't make the golf,  do please join us after the game for soup and sandwiches in the dining-room.

AFTERNOON BRIDGE 13/03/2012

Today was the last Tuesday Afternoon Bridge session, rounding off a very successful year with good attendances all winter. Lady Captain Jean Laburn presented  Joy Niven  with a token of appreciation for all the work she and Noreen Fordyce put into  organising   the  bridge  get-togethers and making these sessions such fun.
Bidding was carefree and reckless today with some ambitious contracts being bid and made (and some crazy contracts not being made....! )

PLEASE SIGN UP FOR THE 2012 MATCHES!

Our annual round of friendly club matches begins on April 23rd with an away game against Forfar.  Confirmation of this, and the other matches to be played, can be found on a sheet which has been placed on the notice board at the top of the stairs, opposite the ladies’ changing room.

Please note that the match against King James Vl, which is in the fixture list as July 30th, has been changed to July 23rd

We would encourage as many ladies as possible to sign up to play in these matches as they are great fun and a good way of getting to know people.

The game against Strathmore is on a Tuesday, but all others are scheduled for a Monday.  Four Bronze and four Silver players, plus reserves, will be required for each match, except those against Dunbracken and Glenisla, when only three from each category, plus reserves, will be required.

So ladies, check your diaries and if you are available on any of the dates, please sign your name on the sheet!

Thank you.

Katy Chapman. Match Secretary
