The Ladies who played at Carnoustie today enjoyed a real treat. It was wonderful to play on the Championship Course just before the Open in July. For some of us it was our first experience of playing on this prestigious course and it is something which we will all remember for a long time. All the games were hard fought but Carnoustie emerged victors by 3 matches to 1. Thanks to Julie and Sheila who kept our flag flying!
Thank you to Dianne Wallace, our Convenor for this match.

TURN UP AND PLAY - TUESDAY 24th APRIL
11 Ladies turned up today to play in our first Turn Up and Play Day on Rosemount. It was a fine day although a little blustery at times. Sheila Bruce organised the ladies into groups of 3 to play a format called Criss Cross.
On an individual basis, using our full handicap allowance, we had to note our gross score and then our nett score on each hole. The fun came when we had to compare the better nett score from the outward first 9 holes with the inward 9 holes.
eg hole 1 was compared with hole 10 and the better nett score was ringed and so on. To finish, all nett ringed holes were added up to give a final score.
It was good fun and the winners were
1st Sheila Bruce with a score of 30
2nd Suki Stobbs with a score of 32
3rd Hazel Grant with a score of 33
Thanks to Sheila for organising our day which was enjoyed by all.

FROM THE HANDICAP LEAGUE SECRETARY
Handicap League
The list of matches is now up in the locker room and I would encourage all ladies to put their names down and I state again that there is no restriction in handicap. Ladies who are Lansdowne members only are able to play in our away matches, so come on and take your opportunities to represent the club in a competitive match which is also full of fun.
Enjoy the new season and I look forward to meeting up with you all and especially any new members to the club.

Handicap League Secretary.

UPDATE ON PLAYING INFORMATION - APRIL 2018
Ladies
As this is the start of season herewith a few
reminders.
TEE TIMES
Tee times will be between 8am and 9am for ladies
who wish to play early; there will then be times from 9am to 10.33am as well as
12.39pm to 12.57pm and 5.36pm to 5.54pm.
MEDAL TIMES
A Player who has entered an SGL
Medal/Competition and subsequently finds she is unable to play at the time
allotted, may play at another time. In that event, the player should
contact Reception/Pro Shop to be allocated another time.
- Where a draw has been made for a SGL Medal/Competition, a player
may only change a tee time via Reception/Pro Shop. In these
circumstances the player can play for handicap only and is unable to win
the competition.
- A player who has not entered the Medal/Competition can, after the
draw has been made, contact Reception/Pro Shop for a ‘late entry’.
Once allocated a time the player is deemed ‘in the draw’ and is eligible
to win the competition. If the player subsequently changes the tee
time then the player is liable to clause (a) above.
ALTERNATE DAY
The majority of Alternate Day fixtures
are on a Sunday but there are a couple on a Saturday, please check your
fixture list for dates. There will be two tee off times allocated for
both morning and afternoon play and players will be eligible to compete
for silverware but must play within the set tee times. Any lady
playing out-with the set times may win a medal but not the
silverware.
HANDICAPS
In order to regain (for 2018) or keep (for 2019)
your handicap, the preference is for you to submit 3 x 18 holes on either
Rosemount or Lansdowne. However, for
those who are unable to manage 18 holes or for Wee Course ladies, 3 x 9 hole
cards should be submitted.

OPENING DAYS MARCH 2018
Ladies Opening Day was a cold, wet and windy day but 39 ladies played on Rosemount in the freezing conditions. Thank you to all ladies who played and to those who came along for a meal afterwards. There was a great atmosphere in the dining room for the presentation of the Friendship Bowl which was won by the Lady Captain's team with a 6 to 4 result.
The Men's Opening Day was a much better day but still very cold. However, the following pictures show the raising of the flag to depict the Opening of the season.
