LATEST MATCH RESULTS

Handicap League Match v Strathmore (home) - Monday 30th May

The Strathmore ladies arrived very much looking forward to this fixture however, regrettably, the match was called off due to inclement weather.  Although the hailstones did give way to heavy rain, it was just too wet to head out.  Typically, it cleared up around 6pm, which gave insufficient time for the games to be completed in daylight hours.

Every effort will be made to reschedule, and thank you to the Blairgowrie team of Susan Arbuckle, Hannah Pickford, Eileen McMurray and Fiona Edwards for travelling and going as far as donning their waterproofs in readiness.  The ladies from Strathmore enjoyed a meal in the clubhouse before heading home.

Friendly Match v Strathmore (away) - Tuesday 31st May

The weather was much kinder to us on our trip to Strathmore with only a few light showers during the afternoon.  The course was in splendid condition although the undulating greens proved a challenge for the away side.  The ladies enjoyed a delicious meal after the match which was a resounding 3 1/2 - 1/2 win for Strathmore.

Thanks to the Blairgowrie ladies - Mary Miller (Captain), Jen Geddes, Mary Hope, Fanny Christie, Meriel Walker, Caroline Dracup, Eileen McMurray and Gill Tissell.

WEE COURSE TEXAS SCRAMBLE - WEDNESDAY 25TH MAY

Twenty five ladies played in the Wee Course Texas Scramble today in blustery but not unpleasant conditions.  The Ladies Committee, being somewhat depleted, was boosted by some full course members and it was great to see some ladies who do not often play in the regular competitions.

There was some good golf, a few near misses and a lot of fun - but the champions on the day were:

Allie Lyburn, Sue Waddell and Moira Stewart with a score of 29, seen here with Ladies Captain Gill.

Second prize, also with a score of 29, went to Liz Smith, Janice Reid and Anne Farquharson.

The ladies enjoyed an informal lunch in the Dining Room afterwards to round off a very sociable day.

REPORT FROM FRIENDLY MATCH AT CRAIL - MONDAY 23RD MAY

Crail Golf Club and the Ladies made our team very welcome.  The day was windy with the odd rain shower going through but spirits were high and all our ladies enjoyed the matches.  The course was in great condition and played to Crail's strengths, as we were beaten in all the matches.

The ladies enjoyed an excellent meal with traybake and coffee after.  It was a much enjoyed day.

CLUB MATCHES - A REQUEST

There has been an enthusiastic response to playing in the various Club Friendly matches.  However, it is taking some time to confirm the teams, as many of the people who signed up subsequently find they are unable to play.

We understand that everyone's plans can change, but if you have signed up and then find that you are unavailable, please take your name off the list on the Locker Room Notice Board.

Please also keep checking the board for updates on matches.  Thank you for your understanding.

RAIN STOPS PLAY!

We were looking forward to welcoming Carnoustie Caledonia Ladies for our friendly match today but, due to the atrocious weather, it was decided to cancel the match.

With both clubs having very full fixture lists, the match will not be rescheduled this year.

NATURE NOTE

A welcome distraction from a less than perfect round on Rosemount is the sight of a pair of Canada Geese with their seven goslings who have taken up residence on the Black Loch.

FIRST HANDICAP LEAGUE MATCH OF THE SEASON - MONDAY 2ND MAY

The first Handicap League match of the season took place on Monday on Rosemount against Crieff ladies.

It had been a miserable wet day but fortunately the rain held off for our start time of 5.30pm. The Blairgowrie team members were Sue Waddell (Captain), Elaine Robson, Liz Ridsdale, Fiona Edwards and Jacqui Doig. We all enjoyed our evening despite the poor visibility.  Well done to Fiona and Jacqui for continuing to play their matches in the dark. How you both found your way back to the clubhouse remains a mystery. Torches and fluorescent balls were definitely required!

Well done and a big thank you to all the team members. A great start to the Handicap League season with a convincing win of 4 1/2 to 1/2.

The next Handicap League match is scheduled for Monday 30th May at home against Strathmore at 5.15pm. Pleas sign up on the sheet on the notice board in the ladies locker room if you would like to play, or contact Sue Waddell for further information. We encourage all ladies with high as well as low handicaps to enter.
