LADIES CHRISTMAS LUNCH 6TH DECEMBER 2025
58 Ladies attended the Annual Ladies Christmas Lunch. In the foyer Anne Farquharson was selling her confectionery which sold out very quickly. All sorts of exotic and delicious flavours. Shirley Lewis our talented stitcher and knitter had a table selling hats, snoods, ball cleaners etc which kept busy as the ladies arrived. There was a welcome cocktail on arrival and the sales of raffle tickets went on apace.
It was a fun afternoon with much chat and buzz in the dining room. There was a delicious lunch enjoyed by all. Three quizzes were set and a lot of head scratching and pleading for clues to the answers. The quiz winners hosted by Marion Kay on her table Carolyn Haddow, Anne Farquharson, Jeannie Webster, Irene Rixson and Sarah, Linda Rice and Eileen McMurray. The spot prize was won by Fannie Christie. (And for the ladies in the Code Cracker quiz the one that foxed all of you HDC is BP = Hundred Degrees Centigrade is Boiling Point)
The Vouchers from the Turkey Trot were presented to the winners, Claire Bidwell and Sue Waddell in Division 1 and Liz Ridsdale and Katie Chapman in Division 2. The results of Winter League from 3rd December Hilary Inglis and Ruth Watson was also announced and received golf balls.

WINTER LEAGUE FRIENDLY AWAY TO ANSTRUTHER - Sunday, 5th October
This was the first of our Winter League Friendly matches. It was also the first time that some of the ladies had played the Anstruther course. We played 2 loops of the 9 hole course in the 4BBB format.
Following Storm Amy which had closed lots of golf courses, including Anstruther, we were relieved to find ourselves playing in the sunshine with no rain whatsoever, albeit in very windy conditions. The course itself was a real challenge for most, especially in the windy conditions and the greens were a test too!
Post golf we enjoyed tasty soup and sandwiches and talked about our shots on various holes including the notorious "rockies" hole !
The home team were triumphant with a 3-0 win and despite the loss for the Blairgowrie ladies, we all really enjoyed our time there. Everyone at Anstruther were friendly and made us feel very welcome.
Here are some photos from the day......

WINTER LEAGUE FRIENDLY MATCHES - 2025/26
A Winter League was established in 2021 with the aim of encouraging friendly competition between lady members of the participating clubs during the winter months.
In 2023, following two successful years, the founding member clubs of Anstruther, Blairgowrie, Crail, Ladybank and St Michaels agreed that this would become an annual competition with matches, 2 home and 2 away, taking place between 1st October and 31st March (no fixtures during December).
A salver is presented to the winning club at the Annual Meeting, which is held each August.
In 2024 Ladybank unfortunately withdrew from the league due to difficulties in being able to commit to fielding a full team. They have been replaced by Earlsferry Thistle and Dunfermline have also joined the league. We have 3 home matches and 2 away matches in 2025/26.
A sign-up sheet for the 2025-26 season will be placed on the noticeboard in the ladies’ locker room; the schedule is:
2025
5th October - Anstruther (AWAY)
26th October - St Michaels (Home)
9th November - Crail (Home)
2026
18th January - Earlsferry Thistle (AWAY)
1st February - Dunfermline (Home)
Teams of six will compete in a 4-ball better ball format. Soup and sandwiches will be served after the game, at a cost of £9.50.
Ladies of all abilities are
encouraged to participate (a maximum course handicap of 36 will be applied). If
you are interested in playing in the team please add your name to the sign-up
sheet.

KYOCERA GOLF CLUB CLASSIC - ROUND 5 - Thursday, 28th August
Round 5 was drawn as an away match against Dundas Parks Ladies Golf Club.
On 28th August, Heather Anderson (Team Captain), Liz Fertacz, Maggie Marshall, Anne Farquharson and Morna Bell set out on a windy and overcast afternoon in single match play format.
It became apparent to the players that local knowledge was key to positioning and putting on the greens and unfortunately a 5-0 defeat was the outcome.
Dundas Parks ladies provided soup and sandwiches afterwards and a friendly atmosphere was enjoyed.
We wish them the very best in the latter stages of the Kyocera Golf Club Classic.
