AWAY DAY TO ROYAL MONTROSE - 19th September

Twenty-eight ladies played on the beautiful Royal Montrose Golf Course yesterday, the 5th oldest golf course in the world.  The staff at the club gave everyone a warm welcome with breakfast rolls and tea/coffee before we headed out to face the course.

The weather was cool to begin with but the sunshine broke through to show the course at its best.  Even in the benign conditions, the undulations, “interesting” bounces and deep bunkers presented the ladies with real challenges.

The format for the day was a combination of individual stableford and a new idea for this year - a Yellow Ball team competition, the latter of which knocked 2 teams out!  Well done to those teams who managed to hold on to theirs to the end!

Post golf we were treated to a lovely two course meal before announcing the results, which were as follows:

Best Stableford Division 1 and winner of the plate - Heather Anderson (34 points BIH)
Runner up - Erica Espley (34 points)

Best Stableford Division 2 and winner of the Gad Aboot Trophy - Brenda Kerr (39 points)
Runner up - Sandra Kinloch (36 points)

Yellow Ball Winners (34 points)
Jane Cameron, Claire Bidwell and Sandra Kinloch

Runners up (31 points)
Cara Davidson, Margaret Hunter and Aileen Hamilton

Nearest the Pin Division 1 (3rd hole) - Cara Davidson (the only one to reach the green!); Division 2 - (12th hole in two) - Brenda Kerr

Longest Drive Division 1 (14th hole) - Cara Davidson; Division 2 (15th hole) - Morna Bell

Well done to all the winners and runners up.

Thank you to Pauline Hill, Mary Miller and Louise Luke for helping on the day and to Maggie Marshall for organising the event.
